Shoots & Sets
I’ve been busy with shoots, planning, doctors and medication. Blek.
We built a set for my upcoming portraiture shoot!! I personally like sets because I have full control of the aesthetic value.
Everyone is so wonderful, helping with the set. I had nothing to do with drills or jigsaws. Those tools just look like torture instruments to me. I shudder when I see them.

And a rough WIP for another portraiture series I’m working on. This was shot on location; at Yanik’s place. Yet to be done. I want to finish my work soon! It’s no fun to work under pressure.
Everyone’s done with assessment. I hope I don’t fail! 3 more weeks to go!! Then I’m going to be following the big boys to shoot their personal work. That would be exciting. I’m learning to shoot Asians a little more this semester. It’s not the same person as “Childless”!
A couple of friends found this blog. I feel nervous when people tell me they read my blog or found my blog. It’s like my little secret.
Going home soon. I can’t wait to see the girls and hear how much they care about me since I went into surgery. ![]()

So, this is the “over-the-top” version of my montage - the piece I built a set for. I’m not going to hand this one up. Editing this for 2 days straight and I’m going to step away from this for a bit.
Hey Ho
I’ve been busy catching up on school work. Too many emails to write, too much D.I work to be done, too much brainstorming to do! Oh dear.
I built my mini set yesterday for my montage project. I couldn’t get a nice looking room so I decided to build my own one. I’m no Tim Burton so my set was really so simple.

I started out painting the skirting (?) of the room.

Stuck it to my “wall”. Check it out. I actually managed to paint the same width without measuring! I’m so proud of myself. Haha.

I realized it was much easier to get a flat wallpaper by wrapping it to a smaller board. I was pleased when I found out the small board fit perfectly to my “floor” ( table top used here ).
I finished at 5 in the morning. Today I shot my model and some furniture. Tonight, I shall start to montage. But I feel sick. I think I might just take some medicine and go to sleep. I should take care of my health a little bit more.
So much to do. Sigh.
P/S: I finally replaced my SD card for my little dummy camera so I guess that’ll be more candid shots now! I’m usually to lazy to take my SLR out for outings, etc.
My Photoblog Is Up

I finally did it. The photoblog is moving at a slow pace. I’m in the middle of uploading some old ( like when I had my first SLR ) and new work. The work in the photoblog are purely “happy shooting” pictures. I don’t do much post-pro on it, nor is it used as folio pieces. Sometimes, when you’re in the middle of a commercial photography course - you start to think too much before you snap a picture. In my case, there is a lot of set up involved so I seldom point and shoot. Everything done in my folio work is controlled to the max.
So, that’s the reason why I created this photoblog. I just go by feelings and the photos don’t have any commercial application at all. If you’re interested, please click here.
I Love My Friends
A week ago, Fishie called me from Perth.
“Are you home?” she asked. I replied that I wasn’t.
“Will anyone be home?” she asked, sounding a bit worried.
“Ravin will be. But if he isn’t, I’ll just collect whatever you’re sending over from the post office,” I told her. It was pretty obvious she was sending something to me.
“Err, I don’t think you can do that.”
We chatted for a bit and I told her that it wasn’t much of a surprise ( whatever she was sending over ). She agreed but there really wasn’t a choice.
I came home and look what I found on the table:-
No wonder someone needed to be home! It was a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Fishie and Pei Sheen! Even though I was out of surgery for a week already, it was still very thoughtful. I promised her I would blog about it and this post is actually a couple of days late.
Thanks so much, Fishie and Pei Sheen - for the thoughtful gift. Apparently, this is called “Baby Abbey”. Well, Baby Abbey is still very much fresh and sitting on my kitchen counter. Gorgeous flowers!
P/S: I love the miniature ladybird stuck to the card. There were more of them stuck on the paper. I carefully removed them and they’re stuck to my Mac now. And how cute is the little peg!? Aiiiiii.
